Eagles sign 2024 third-round draft pick Jalyx Hunt to rookie contract
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Eagles' third-round pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, Jalyx Hunt, officially signed his rookie contract on Monday.

Hunt inked a four-year deal worth $5.6 million, per Spotrac.

The Eagles traded back two times before they selected Hunt out of Houston Christian at 94th overall.

Hunt originally started his college career playing safety and ran track at Cornell before transferring and switching to pass rusher.

In his final two seasons at Houston Christian, Hunt registered 110 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

Coming from a small school, the 6-foot-4 and 252-pound edge defender had to put his name on the map ahead of the NFL draft and he did with an impressive combine performance where he logged a 4.64 40-yard dash, 37.5-inch vertical jump, and a 10’ 8’’ broad jump.

The Eagles currently have a crowded edge room with Bryce Huff, Josh Sweat, Nolan Smith, Brandon Graham, and Zack Baun on the roster, so Hunt might not be a big contributor in Year 1, but he's looking forward to learning a lot.

“They see a lot of upside and it’s something I’m excited to grow into," Hunt said after the draft. "So, I’m definitely patient enough to put in the work, and do what I need to do in order to reach my potential. But, if there’s any way I can contribute right out of the gate, I want to do it. I’m all for it.”
