Buffalo Bills wide receiver Trent Sherfield left spectators speechless Sunday with his spectacular first-half touchdown at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla. Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel was chief among them.
The Bills trailed 7-0 with 4:38 left in the second quarter and face a second-and-goal at the Dolphins’ six-yard line. Quarterback Josh Allen faked the handoff to James Cook and tried to throw a dart at Sherfield in the middle of the end zone but Dolphins linebacker Andrew Van Ginkel deflected Allen’s pass.
That’s when Sherfield channeled his inner Julio Jones with an epic toe-drag TD to score the Bills’ lone touchdown of the half. McDaniel’s face said it all.

The Dolphins were able to bring their coach some positive vibes before the half ended. Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill didn’t need any toe drags to put Miami up 14-7 heading into the break.

The Bills entered the game having already clinched a playoff spot after the Jacksonville Jaguars lost to the Tennessee Titans earlier in the day.
However, Buffalo still had something to play for.
A Bills loss to the Dolphins would mean that the two teams would play in a rematch to start the playoffs. A win for Buffalo would allow them to host the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card round, while the Dolphins would have to take on the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. McDaniel might end up making the same face if the Dolphins end up with the latter scenario.
